What Causes Blood In Urine?

My father consumes about 12-15 beers a night. He worked as a brick mason for 40 years and noticed blood in the toilet water but not the stool after a tough day. He is now not working but is noticing it again. He might go days and see nothing and then its back. Thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Blood in the urine can be related to a urinary tract infection or kidney stones.

I suggest doing a urine test and an abdominal ultrasound for further evaluation.

Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
