What Causes Body Tremors And Hot Flashes After A Hip Replacement Surgery?

I had total right hip replacement 05/23/18. About a week prior to that I began to feel hot & cold, and unable to sleep. My surgeon ordered special testing, because I had had brucellosis, with those symptoms, in 2007. It had been eradicated. These tests did not show evidence. At one point I began these symptoms, with a lot of jerking, twitching, etc. of muscles all over - not just the hip/leg. I quit taking the Oxycodone, and stayed with the tramadol. I have finished the tramadol. The past three nights, the twitching, jerking, chills, hot flashes have returned. I am 68, female, had total hyst/ooph in 1995 with no menopause. Thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is possible that septicemia or deep vein thrombosis or surgical site infection after surgery, which may cause chills and fever.

Use Paracetamol or antibiotics and continue Tramadol if there is pain.

Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
