What Causes Broken Blood Vessels Under Arms And Torso?

Hello~ My daughter is 5 years old and for the last few days I have noticed that she has broken blood vessels under her arms as well as on her back an torso. She has had swollen glands and seems to be very tired lately. She has had blood work and everything has come out just fine. Any ideas?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

There are tiny blood vessels just under the skin which are all over the body.

Sometimes minor trauma will cause them to rupture with the result that there is a little blood under the skin. They disappear in several days.

An example of this is when a person coughs deeply, small red dots can appear on the upper chest.

Is it possible that your daughter was wearing something that was tight clothing over her upper body?

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Arnold Zedd, Pediatrician
