What Causes Brown Colored Mucus In Stool And Acidity?

A couple months ago I felt like I had to pass gas and when I did a brownish colored mucus came out, after that a couple times a day I would have gas and a little clearish to yellow colored mucus come out, recently I increased my water intake and it seems to have subsided, now it's just in the morning when I get up, I feel gas and a little mucus will come out. I have regular normal bowel movements and no pain,there is also a little mucus in my stool sometimes as well.
