What Causes Brown Discharge After Having Sex?

I m 39, I had my tubed tied years ago. For a week before my period I had these intermittent burning pains on my right side, around where my ovary is. They went away when I got my period which was a normal period, however, when it was over I had some brown discharge for 5 days. I also seemed to be bloated with gas/constipiation. When the discharge was over, I had sex with my husband and two minutes into it I noticed blood. Not gushing but just enough to worry me. Two days later when I had sex, there was just some brown discharge. The next day I had sex again and there was a small amount of blood. After that I ve just been having slight brown discharge, mostly in the morning. It s practically gone now but I still get the pinching/burning pains around the ovaries. I m due for my period in 9-10 days. Do you think it s an ovarian cyst?

An ovarian cyst can cause a hormonal imbalance which in turn can cause inter-menstrual bleeding, for this reason it cannot be ruled out. But at the same time, there are numerous other conditions that can cause a hormonal imbalance and in turn the presentation described by you.

But the more worrying causes are those which can cause bleeding during or immediately after sexual intercourse and so I would urge you to consult a doctor for a physical examination.
