What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge Instead Of Menstrual Bleeding?

Hi , Last month I got Brown discharge instead of my period and it didn t stay for long , however when my period comes it usually stays for a week or more , but that one time last month the brown discharge was too little and it stayed for 3 days only. just for your info: I m stressed with exams , but usually when I m stressed i get my period early and heavy and also i get ulcers in my mouth Thank you

Hello,

Irregularity in menstrual cycles is very common during stressful times. However, if you are sexually active, it is important to get a home pregnancy test done to rule out pregnancy.

If the pregnancy test is negative and you do not menstruate this month too, please follow up with your ObGyn. Your provider may consider starting medication(like Norethisterone) to regularize period.
