What Causes Bulge Inside Knee Filled With Fluid?

I have fluid in my knee that bulges out the size of half of golf ball when I bend my knee making it feel like my knee cap will fly out of my leg. There is NO pain?? Is there anything I can take or does it have to be drained. I was an athlete when I was younger.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case. This condition is called as prepatellar bursitis. In this conditon there is fluid accumulation in the bursa situated in front of the knee cap. I would suggest you to meet a orthopaedic surgeon. It can be solved with knee fluid aspiration with the help of the needle.
If there is more fluid and recurrence occur than it might need a small surgery. In this with the help of arthroscope all tissue infron of the bursa is excised.
I hope these seps will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
