What Causes Bumps On Tongue After Getting Tongue Pierced?

Got tongue pierced. Using crest pro health mouthwash. Bumps appeared on tongue. What should I do? Hi, about 4 days ago I got my tongue pierced and I was told to rinse my mouth every time I eat or drink anything besides water. I bought Crest Pro Health mouthwash without alcohol and now the tip of my tongue has "lie bumps" or swollen taste buds, and the front of my mouth has these spots where it looks like the gum has a white film over it. I also have a white lump growing around that area and my teeth and gums are very sore to the point where eating or drinking is impossible it seems. What could this be and what should I do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms swollen papillae as well as swollen gums and sore teeth are all due to inflammation of the mucosal surfaces of mouth leading to STOMATITIS and it can be due to allergic reaction to any of the constituent of mouthwash leading to inflammation.

The bump at the piercing site is due to injury to the soft tissues caused by the piercing probe and it leads to inflammation and bump formation as well as swelling of the papillae is also due to inflammation...

Nothing to worry, just change the mouthwash that you are using and you can use Chlorhexidine containing alcohol free mouthwash.
Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.
Do warm saline gargles.
Suck on ice pops and gargle with cold water for reducing inflammation and resolution of bumps.
For soreness of gums and teeth gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine especially during meals to relieve discomfort.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
