What Causes Burning At The Throat, Belching And Gastritis?

I have been experiencing a strong, peppery/burning & stinky taste in my mouth (esp back of my throat). I have a film on my tongue. I feel weak, my feet are very cold, headache, a lot of gas, belching & acid reflux. Even water tastes sweet/sour to me. I have had sinus drainage for several weeks & was on antibiotics for a sinus infection about 6 weeks ago.

I don't have insurance coverage for another week, but wondering if I should see a doctor sooner, or just wait for symptoms to end?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Your symptoms are strongly suggestive of indigestion with Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). Indigestion is apparently due to killing of "good bacteria" of the gut by the antibiotics taken for sinus infection.

A 4-6 weeks' course of anti-acid drug, such as, Pantoprazole, along with Domperidone (a pro-kinetic drug) + a probiotic (such as, Lactobacilli) and digestive enzymes will cure the problems.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and will prescribe the advised drugs in appropriate doses.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
