What Causes Burning Sensation After Eating Food?

Since January, I have had burning pain which increases after I eat; given the course of my symptoms, after considering the possibility of pancreatitis, I now wonder if this is ulcerative colitis; I had an emergent incident on February 11th, but due to the severity of the incident and being alone, was unable to seek help; in any case, I was in such shock physically and otherwise that I was literally unable to even get to a phone, let alone dial 911, which wouldn t have helped because I live on an isolated island in Southeast Alaska and we do not have competent or safe medical care here. I have appointments to see an internist and also a gastroenterologist in Los Angeles in early April. It seems like there is a hole in my stomach, and food goes too quickly into the colon, probably inadequately digested; I no longer feel food in my stomach, and am hungry very soon after I eat; eating hurts, but going too long without eating brings cramping. Other than eating only tiny amounts at a time, as I have been forced to since February 11th, and of course seeking medical care when I am back in civilization for a few days in April, what are your suggestions for home care? Also, is this something that is expected to heal on its own? It s been a month and a half and I still have burning pain; it starts under/behind my left front rib(s), and travels around my left side, and goes into my back.
