Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with a bulging disk which is pressing on a nerve making my thigh numb. My MD(not the neurosurgeon) said my burning all over my body is my nerves. She said the burning was separate from the disk problem. I am on gabapentin for nerve endings and clonazepam for my nerves. Are these two separate things in your opinion? I have lost my parents a year apart which I cared for and lost my husband last year. I have had pneumonia and then I had the Shingles and one month later I had severe back pain. The pain in my back has gone but the burning wakes me up at night so bad. Is this a neurological problem? Do I need to see a Neurologist instead of the Neurosurgeon my MD sent me to?I would appreciate your advice.Thank you Becky Williams
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you are suffering from a bulging disk. You have burning pains .If these burning pains are only in lower limb (leg) then it may be due to bulging disc . It can be differentiated by MRI of lumbar spine from any other neurological disease. If these burning pains are in both upper limbs(Arm) and lower limbs (leg) then it is more likely to be due to other causes then a bulging disk. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
