What Causes Burning Sensation In Middle Of Breastplate?

I have a prescription of 30 mg. of lanzoprazol. I recently ran out of it and experienced heartburn for about 2/3 days. I started taking it again yesterday and although the heartburn is nearly gone, when I swallow food or hot liquids like coffee, I am experiencing a burning sensation in the middle of my breastplate. Any reason for concern?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of pain behind breastbone, the retrosternal area, took Lansoprazole and got relief.
But the discontinuity caused the problem again and got settled again after Lansoprazole, but there is discomfort on taking hot things like coffee.
This is obviously due to esophagitis caused by GERD that is gastroesophageal reflux disease.
I would advise you the following in such a situation.
Add on Domperidone.
Antacid liquid every 3 hours, particularly when on empty stomach.
Continue Lansoprazole.
Soft bland diet.
No anxiety or stress.
All these measures will help you to get a relief.
Upper GI endoscopy should be done.
