What Causes Burning Sensation In The Eyes And Headaches?

Hi Good Morning Dr. My daughter is suffering from severe eye burning since last four five days. She is having burning sensation when She is trying study or do something. Burning sensation remains for 1-2 hrs in a day with little headache and some times bodyache then goes off completely. she recovered from viral fever just 7days ago. She is 9 yrs old and checked with three different eye hospitals according to them eyesight is 6/6. Dr.has given tear drops, anti allergic drops (pataday of alcon),tube gels (novartis ) at night and at last Dr. Prescribed Predmet eye drops ( steroids) but not much improvement in one n half days. She doesn t have any red/ pink eye no swelling no discharges as verified by Dr. Dr is suspecting allergic conditions. Please advise whether I am on right path or not.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems she is having the right treatments. I would be a bit hesitant for the steroids in the eye though, but the rest of the drops I fully agree and she should continue their use.

As for the possible cause of the symptoms, if she is spending extended periods of time in front of a computer or reading, then the eyes get dry and also may suffer eye strain. It is good she is having eye drops and I would advise her to make sure she studies seated and has a good posture that does not hurt her eyes. She should take frequent breaks from studying and she should rest her eyes by looking in distance for a few minutes every 20 minutes.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
