What Causes Burning Sensation In The Penis During Urination?

I was put on Flomaxtra for BPH, my urine retention volume is about 150cc, enlarged prostates as stated by my GP and Urologist. Got the normal conditions of attack of urgency and frequency at almost once for the past 3 months. However, it is good flow when urinating, not dribbling for some people. It was exactly a week now taking Flomaxtra, it stopped the urgency ie i need to pee every 15 minutes and cant hold the urine but 3 days into it..i have another urgency attack with more seriousness..more stronger burning sensation..ring urologist nurse..advised it might be infection again..see GP, took urine for test..given Amoxil plus in between took Ural Effervescent powder to reduce acidity in the system. Whenever need to urine..have to exert strength to do it with severe burning sensation plus sour taste in the mouth. Also can feel burning sensation in the bum or anus??

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Burning micturition is due to urinary tract infection, as in your case post-void urine was significant, so retention of urine have led to urinary tract infection. You can take Tamsulosin, continue antibiotic Tab. Levofloxacin with syrup Potassium Citrate to reduce urinary pH. Mostly, your symptoms will improve and get TLC count and urine routine microscopy done.
