What Causes Burning Sensation In The Right Buttock?

I have had a burning pain in my right buttock, I saw a local Dr and he prescribed physical therapy for 4 months. I attended that therapy and it seemed to relieve some of the pain, but it always returns in the same spot and it feels like a burning ball of pins and needles. I had a fall down an up going escalator got stuck between my suitcases and got scratched up a bit. Later in the week I fell into a hole up to my right knee that some kid had dug, then followed up with riding in the bottom of a bumpy canoe for 4 hours. I was visiting my kids and grandkids. It was a painful couple weeks. Sitting for long periods of time and standing for long periods of time are very painful. The doctors I saw did not seem to feel this information was important. I have in the past taken hard falls on ice. Thank you. Niki Johnson

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

With the history of repeated injuries and falls, your symptoms, of feeling a ball of pins and needles, are indicative of a neurological cause that can be identified only with the following:
• Consult an orthopedic surgeon for clinical evaluation and examination.
• Get MRI of the affected area as well as the area from where the nerve supply is, that is spine. This will give you the most proper diagnosis and a plan for medical and/or surgical management.
• Also, needed are the medications for the neurological pains.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
