What Causes Burning Sensation On Head After Lifting Something High?

When I lift my arm to get something high up off a shelf and then twist my head up, I get a burning feeling on the left side of my head which is quite uncomfortable. I describe it to friends as fireworks going off in my head as it feels like an explosion going off. I have quite a lot of tension in my left shoulder and base of neck due to a computer job. Is this serious?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcare magic.
I understood your question as I have had such experience before myself.
This is nerve impingement in their origine from the neck due to possible spondyloarthrosis or discal hernia of the neck.
This can be from your work position, age and or genetics.
i advice you to do a neck xray and of you have spondyloarthrosis of the cervical spine you can start with some physical therapy procedures to relieve pain.
Wish you quick recovery.
