My 17 year old daughter just called from school and said that she is experiencing some strong burning pains when she urines and stools when using the bathroom. Can t get to the doctor right away. Any idea what this may be or what she can do to treat it?
Your daughter symptoms may suggests urinary tract infection(UTI).
She need proper clinical examination and routine investigations. Investigations include routine hemogram, random blood sugar, renal function test, ultrasound of abdomen, urine RE/ME and culture/sensitivity,stool(routine and microscopic). Nitrite and leukocyte esterase test can be done for confirmation of UTI.
It is important to assess anal region for assessing local cause like piles, fissure etc.
She may need to take full course of antibiotics. She should drink plenty of water.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
