What Causes Burning Sensation While Urinating?

Im a 22 year old female and Ive just had oral and regular sex for the first time with my boyfriend. It burns while Im urnating and when Im not as well. Its not as bad as it was, but it still hurts. Im worried, beucase Im hoping I didnt give him anything, and hoping he didnt give me anything. I also dont have insurance, so going to see a doctor isnt an easy thing to do.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The current condition is urinary tract infection following sexual intercourse which may not be necessarily sexually transmitted disease in all instances.

As you are not in a position to go to doctor at present (which is actually ideal management), I would suggest basic guidelines here to proceed
- drink more liquids
- cranberry sachet once daily in a glass of drinking water
- tablet ibuprofen preferably with antacid tablet as ranitidine or else if no history of drug sensitivity
- keep genitals clean with antiseptic liquid
- avoid further intercourse till recovery

Follow up after 24 hours about the progress of the condition and a further line of action.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
