Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Burning, Stabbing Pain In The Knee And Extending To Thigh And Hips?
I was diagosed with MS. in 2007. I ve been experiencing burning, stabbing pain in my left knee (my left side is my weak side). Pain starts with my knee and shoots up my left thigh to hip. I ve had this issue over the years, but nothing as bad as this. Pain happens mostly when I m laying down. I work full time, was just in bed for 3 days due to pain & still having problems walking. Per my bone & joint Dr., i have fluid on my left wrist and a lump of fluid on the outside of my left wrist that shoots a pain up my arm at any given time. He recommends physical therapy for my wrist. Are the 2 issues connected? It s hard to use crutches due to the shooting pain in my wrist. Are these MS related. What can I do? I already take too many pills for fatigue, etc.
It looks to me that you are having shooting pain and cause of it is lumbar spondylosis. This causes pinch nerve at back. I would suggest you to get Spine X ray and MRI. If there is significant nerve pinching you should take pregabalin and methylcobal. You can also start back muscle strengthening exercise. I do not think it is related to MS.
