What Causes Burning While Urination?

My father is having burning while urination . His prostate is normal and PSA level is also normal. He has been taking Pyridium since 3 days. Now if the burning doesn't stop still after taking the entire course, what is the best option? is it surgery? he is 68 years old.

Hello dear
I understand your concern
Burning during urination could be due to urinary tract infection.
I would suggest to consult the primary care physician and undergo urine routine, microscopic test ti rule out the cause.
Just pyridium is not enough to treat infection.
Doctor will give following advises:
Tablet septran DS
Syrup cital
Drink plenty of water and juice of cranberry, orange and pineapple
Maintain proper pelvic hygiene.
