What Causes Chest Pain That Radiates To The Neck Post Workout?

Hi, I m 24 year old male. I lift weights on and off and have done for 6 years now. I have lately let myself go with my diet and today thought would be good to go for a run. I started of fine for the first half mile then I was getting pain in my chest area which then moved to my neck which I believe was an artery which was pulsating rapidly and very vigorously. The pain and the throbbing in my neck made me stop as it felt like it was about to burst. This has me worried and want to know if it is a serious problem or if it will pass in time.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is just a musculoskeletal pain.

As the first line of management, you can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
