Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Child To Want To Lay Down After Head Injury?
My grandson fell off a chair onto a tile floor on his forehead (fell about 1 1/2 ft.) He has a big goose egg now. He immediately started crying. He quit crying but wanted to lay down afterwards. His eyes are ok. My son went to his bedroom to get dressed to take him to the hospital but my grandson got up and followed him. What I am especially worried about is the fact that he just wants to lie down (I've raised 5 kids, it takes a lot to worry me). Do you think he should go to the hospital? My son says he was getting sleepy before this happened, and so far he's kept him awake. This happened about 20 min. ago. Thank you in advance, Grandma
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern. I will suggest you danger signs of head injury - 1. Vomiting continuously 2. Seizures 3. Watery of bloody discharge from ears and nose 4. Unconsciousness 5. Altered sensorium or behaviour. If none of them are present, I don't think you should worry about his trivial head injury.
For pain you can give oral Paracetamol in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health. Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
