What Causes Chills, Tiredness And Gas?

My husband has gone from being very active (tennis 5 days a week to lying on the couch). He complains of chills, not feeling well. Around two in the afternoon he feels a bit better and does get up around. He is 72 years, had a stint put in 14 years ago. Oh, he also has a lot of gas ( burping ). We are waiting for the results of some blood tests taken this week. They say the results will come back in a week. Someone could be dead by then.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned especially since he is normally very active.

Chills normally signal an infection, if the physical examination did not reveal the exact source of infection, it should show up on the blood tests.

The gas/burping may be due to different causes including: (1)use of gas producing foods such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, turnips, beans

(2)constipation

(3)lactose intolerance or some other food intolerance

(4)side effect of medication

(5)GERD

He may want to note if there is any change in diet that may be contributing to this problem.
The use of reflux medication such as one of the following: pepcid, zantac, prilosec, prevacid or nexium, may help.

I hope this helps
