Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I’m a 69 y/o male, active and healthy, good BMI, no history of pulmonary problems, non-diabetic. One coronary stent for non- typical blockage. Have had a chronic non- productive cough, several months. Steroid taper, levoceterezine no help. Blood test shows abnormal A. Pullulan which can point to many underlying causes for the dyspnea. I have an appointment with a pulmonologist next week. Would like info on further diagnosis and treatment. Michael
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Pulmonary symptom of nonproductive cough needs to be ruled out for allergic condition even the dyspnea may be due to that only and it may not be any disease condition, as long as the nonproductive cough is a concern, at the most certain drugs are there like ACE inhibitor which is mainly given for hypertension this may cause the dry cough, else for the dyspnea it may be due to cardiac disease (CAD) anemia may be the cause of this, if the symptoms persist then CT of chest is advisable.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Akhtar Husain
