What Causes Chronic Cough And Runny Nose In An Infant?
My son is nearly 7month a week left.... He is having cough since a week.... I gave cetrizene 2.5ml as prescribed by Dr.... His weight is 7.5kg....today suddenly he has runny nose with cough....now the mucus colour has a bit yellowish.... Chest sound is also there. Please help.
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM I have read and understood your concern Cough since one week with runny nose points to a respiratory tract infection or allergy. Most of these infection are of viral origin and symptomatic treatment will do.However, persistence of symptoms since 1 week may mean bacteria infection or superinfection.I will advise you try the following: -Continue with cetrizene -Add a steroid like celestene drops -Avoid respiratory irritants like dust, cole and smoke Given the fact that symptoms have persisted for over a week, i will advise you see the Doctor for reevaluation and to judge the need for antibiotics.Tests that may help include: full blood count, ESR or CRP. Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns Best regards
