What Causes Chronic Diarrhea Along With Hair Loss And Skin Irritation?

My friend is a )66yo female who had diarrhea on and off for about 2 weeks. She had a bowel movement that looked like spaghetti. Took that specimen to Urgent care to be checked for round worms which came back negative. She has not has a colonoscopy in about 10 years. I’m trying to get her to her doctor which is proving difficult. She feels that she doesn’t have round worms so she’s fine. She has been on a cleanse diet for about 6 months and has lost approx 30 lbs. Her hair is falling out and she has skin irritations. Any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The diarrhea, hair loss, weight loss along with skin irritation suggest underlying systemic involvement in the form of hyperthyroidism or others.

I suggest to get evaluated with her family doctor for precise diagnosis and further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
