General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
After the gastric bypass surgery the interior of the abdomen will definitely be different.
The intestinal obstruction with septicemia, coma and all should have needed lots of antibiotics and supportive therapy.
Continuation of diarrhea can be due to the following reasons:
Short bowel syndrome wherein the effective bowel length is too low.
Intestinal bacterial flora disturbance.
This can be diagnosed by the following:
Barium meal follow-through under fluoroscopy control to see the exact rate of movement of the barium through small and large intestine, also to see if there is any internal fistula formation, obstruction, strictures or kinking.
Contrast enhanced CT scan show any mass or so.
Tests of blood, particularly for thyroid function.
Stool tests for three consecutive days.
Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon and also a Gastroenterologist.
Proper medication or surgical correction of the intestinal tract as may be required.
