What Causes Chronic Diarrhea And Red Rashes On The Buttocks After Giving Amoxicillin?

My 2 year old granddaughter has had diarrhea for two weeks now. It started when she was given amoxicillin for upper respiratory infection. We took her back to the doctor and they said it was the meds maybe, and food intolerance. But it doesn t seem to be getting better. Still has 4 bad diapers a day and they smell like acid my daughter says. Bottom is red and sore. Any suggestions

Hi... some amount of the area along with skin excoriation at the buttocks is common while using amoxicillin as an antibiotic.

If diarrhoea is really troubling the kid I suggest you get in touch with your pediatrician for a prescription of probiotics.

For rash over the buttocks you can use emollient cream.
