Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI. This is Waseem Shah from Pakistan and i was feeling nausea after breakfast for three weeks, i did ultrasound and left renal concretions appears i never had any kidney disease earlier, the doctor suggested me to drink more and more water and also he advised me to take potassium citrate and a pain killer two times daily. i was asking that whether these concretions will disappear or not?? please kindly let me know for how long it will appear?
Potassium Citrate is an alkaline agent and helps in dissolving stones formed due to highly acidic urine. If these concretions in your kidney are due to cystinuria (One of the causes of renal stones), they will dissolve and disappear.
Even otherwise, concretions are very small stones that will pass with drinking large amounts of water and passing urine.
I would advice you to increase your water intake to about 2-3 Litres per day and make it a lifelong habit. Also try to stay away from carbonated soda beverages as they have phosphoric acid and make the urine acidic.
Hope this helps! Please feel free to write back for any more questions that you may have.
