What Causes Clear Slimy Discharge From Anus?

My husband thought he was having diarrhea, and while running to the bathroom, had a large volume of clear, slimy discharge come from his anus. When he made it to the bathroom, some of the same discharge is what he expelled upon sitting onto the toilet. He had no stomach pain when it happened but had diarrhea all day long. He does battle with hemorrhoids frequently, but this is the first. Can you help?

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that your husband is having infection of the gastrointestinal tract and needs medical attention. I would suggest that he should get his stool examined for any infection. He may need an antibiotic along with antiamoebic and a probiotic. He should eat light meals prepared under hygienic conditions. Also take care of his hydration. Further medical management can be planned according to the reports of the stool test and according to the clinical evaluation done by his doctor.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
