Increased menstrual flow with clots could be due to any uterine growth such as polyps or ovarian cysts.
Perimenopausal symptoms can also be the cause.Nearing menopause many women experience heavy blood flow for a few months before complete cessation.
Blood hemoglobin,Pelvic ultrasound and Pap smear may be required to identify any abnormalities.Mean while Non hormonal drugs such as antifibrinolytics can be taken for 3 to 5 days to reduce excess bleeding.
Excess bleeding or clotting can cause heavy blood loss and subsequent anemia which should be prevented.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
