What Causes Cod Feet And Hands After Taking Metformin?
HI I am taking Metformin and since I started taking it my hands and feet are very cold...I should say since I started taking 3 pills a day....I spoke with my doctors nurse and she said that that was not one of the side effects that it was probably because of the sugar in my blood and that it has always been that way...but I had never had that problem...what can I do?
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. It is true that cold hands and feet are not a known side effect of Metformin. Whatever is causing this to happen now, it doesn't sound like anything dangerous, and so I would wait and see if it goes away on its own while still taking the Metformin. If it continues to bother you, you could discuss with your doctor about stopping the Metformin to see if that makes a difference, which would also help determine if it was part of what is causing this.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
