Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 5 year old daughter is very sick. This is day 4. She originally had a cold about 10 days ago. Then she seemed to develop a virus of some sort. It s only getting worse. Her temperature will spike to 102-103 and I can bring it down to 100 at best. As of today she has turned raspy. She is complaining only that her lips hurt ... nothing else. No throats pain or ear pain. I suspect this may be turning into pneumonia.
You are on right way. You should rule out pneumonia or bronchitis like lower respiratory tract infection. For that, I suggest physical detailed chest examination and digital chest x-ray.
I also suggest investigating with ASO titre and CBC for further work up. An antibiotic course can be prescribed for her. If the examination shows bronchoconstriction than appropriate bronchodilator also needs to be given.
You should consult her to the nearby paediatrician for detailed evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
