What Causes Cold Symptoms While Swallowed A Coin?

my 20 month old son swallowed a coin last night. i took him to hospital and he had x rays done and they said it must be in his stomache and he will pass it naturally, however today he has cold like symptoms and im just wondering if it is to do with the coin or if he just has a cold on top of this? thankyou.
