What Causes Confusion In An Elderly Person While On Diabetic Medication?
My mother is 84 and recently fell. The doctor at the AZ Heart Institute advised due to the stress from the fall She suffered a mild heart attack with no major issues. Over the past few months she stopped taking her meds, and has had to start over with her medications which are several for diabetes, and heart issues. She is confused, sore, and very repetitive. Most of the time she does not know where she is at, and complains about her pain, and being fat, could this be the affects of the meds? possibly the onset of another issue? Thank you for your time.
"As"per your clinical history is concerned do take medications as usual and try to maintain her BP and sugar under control. Medication has no side effects like this so never discontinue any medications.
Do check her ECG, ECHO and MRI and do a physical examination by a Neurologist in your area to rule out TIA in brain.
Tell your treating Doctor to add multivitamin caps at bed time and vitamin B 12 injection.
Hope that helps
