What Causes Constant Abdominal Pain And Constipation?

My name is Jennifer , i have been having horrible constant belly pain, it feels like mostly on my sides(where the pain is the worst) but it Also hurts in lower abdomen and under my ribs! I had been having watery loose stools and then having constipation, but for the past 2 weeks it has been loose and is covered in this white mucus substance and sometimes thats all that i pass is mucus! I have been to Er and had CT and they said it looked like my bowel was inflamed and possibly colitis, then i had a colonoscopy and the dr said my bowel looked fine! I am really frustrated and tired of being in pain?? I do have hypothyroid and a few other health issues but dont know what is causing these symptoms and how to stop them

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of horrible constant pain in abdomen, on sides and lower abdomen and under ribs, watery stools then constipation, mucus in stool in spite of normal colonoscopy. Also a known hypothyroid. Wants to know the reasons.
The better part is that your CT scan and Colonoscopy are normal hence the cancer of the colon is ruled out.
The problem then looks to be due to entero-colitis, the excessive mucus production and the watery diarrhea are indicative of either an infection or intolerance.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the stool tests done and also the tests of blood, particularly for CBC and thyroid status.
Get a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics and this may solve your problems.
Also add on activated charcoal and multivitamins.
Also take a note of the foods and beverages that cause the intestinal problems and stop them altogether.
I find this answer helpful
