What Causes Constant Bleeding For 6 Weeks While On Effient?

I AM ON EFFIENT. I AM 47 AND HAVE NOW HAD MY PERIOD FOR 6 WEEKS. FLUXUATING FROM HEAVY TO MEDIUM. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED? I STOPPED TAKING THE BLOOD THINNER FOR A WEEK TO STOP SOME OF THE BLEEDING. STILL BLEEDING. I HAD A COUPLE OF DAYS WHERE A SUPER PLUS TAMPON EVERY HALF HOUR WAS JUST NOT ENOUGH. WHAT COULD IT BE. IS IT PART OF MENOPAUSE?

Hi,

If you have tried stopping the blood thinner for some time and the problem continued, then this heavy bleeding might not be related to efficient.

Considering your age (perimenopausal age), in my opinion, this might be related to hormonal imbalance and might be accompanied by mood swings, hot flashes and irregular cycles.

I suggest you consult a gynecologist because is necessary to perform a pelvic examination, an ultrasound scan or further examinations to exclude any organic causes such as fibroids, endometriosis, etc.

I also suggest you perform a complete blood count check, to diagnose any hypochromic anemia, caused by the heavy bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
