Hi,
It sounds from the brief history that there is
soft tissue physiological changes in the knee joint. As the age isn't mentioned I suspect to be above 35+ years. If that is the case then it should be early degenerative changes of the knee joint.
An
MRI is advised. Because swelling , pain, discomfort are the symptoms of the physiological changes. Due to this changes there will be weakness of the muscles and ligaments which will not be able to hold the knee joint in desired anatomical position leading to changes in the gait cycle as well.
Post-MRI the conservative management can be helpful for reducing the symptoms. You can even try the exercises like - static
hamstring, Static quadriceps, straight leg raise, ankle toe movements, hip muscle strengthening, abductors strengthening, abductors strengthening, icing for pain and swelling relief if you aren't diabetic.
If diabetic then only hot water fermentation. Also a
knee brace will be helpful for supporting the knee physiological structures to avoid the abnormal compression occurring due to reduced joint space.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
