What Causes Constant Diarrhea And Constipation?

I have been dealing constant diarrhea and constipation for about three months now. It continues to get mote frequent and is a problem with respect to my daily activities. I a over the counter med to stop the constipation and then I return to having Diarrhea. What are the likely causes for this problem. I am 74 years old. I am in the process of trying to get an appointment with a specialist.

Alternating diarrhoea and constipation are features of Inflammatory Bowel Disease..
Diabetic Neuropathy also sometimes can present like this.
Stool routine test has to be done
Colonoscopy has to be planned to rule out intestinal pathology.
