What Causes Constant Hiccups After Cardiac Cathetarization?

My husband had a cardiac cathetarization yesterday and immediately had a case of hiccups and more than 24 hours later he is still experiencing hiccups. We asked the Dr about them and they said it is not a result of the procedure... what are your thoughts?

Hiccups are caused by myoclonic jerks of the diaphragm. Your condition is highly unlikely due to cardiac cath....Use metoclopramide 10mg BD for 3 days for hiccups.
