What Causes Constant Lower Back Pain In Cancer Survivor?

hi, I am a cancer survivor(colon...early stage 3). I have been cancer free for 7.5 yrs now, but I have been having a constant but not severe pain in my lower right back just above my waist. I was wondering if it could be related to a kidney problem. I have no other visible symtoms.

Hello
As per your description of the clinical symptoms it seems that you may have the following probabilities :
1. There may be a bony metastasis of the carcinoma following some recurrence. you need to do a Bone scan to rule out the possibility.
2. It simply may be a Low back pain due to some Prolapsed intervertebral disc. you need to do a X-Ray of the lumbo-sacral spine or a MRI scan for better evaluation.
3. yes, your guess may be right there may be some renal pathology, like renal or ureteric calculus, for this you need to do a USG of KUB region.
4. Lastly there is a possibility of urinary tract infections wich often present with similar symptoms. you need to do a urinalysis for R/E and C/S to rule out the possibility.
My advice would be please visit your treating doctor and get these investigations done to identify the exac cause of your symptoms and proceed accordingly.
Thank you.
