What Causes Constant Numbness On The Right Side Of The Thigh?

i have constant numbness on the side of my right thigh. it became constant two weeks ago. previous to that, it would come and go from standing too long. when i m standing {like at work} it starts to tingle and i feel intense burning pain {enough to take your breath away}. I think that the numbness is going away at that point but the skin surface stays numb. i am overweight and have type II diabetes. i read on WebMD that it could be a compressed nerve. any thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

I appreciate your knowledge that you are searching on Google for your condition..

You right, compressed nerve can lead such numbness and tingling problem...

But in your case diagnosis seems most likely is diabetic neuropathy leading numbness

Check your sugar level and diabetes needs to be controlled

Another cause that needs to be ruled out are...
-kidney disease
-liver disease
-B12 deficiency
-calcium deficiency
-electrolyte disturbance etc

If pain occurs with walking then rule out peripheral vascular disease PVD by colour doppler...

Compressed nerve checked lastly if needed and If pain occurring in whole leg

Hope I have give you sufficient information about your case

Take care
