I had laparoscopy 3 days ago. I haven t had a bowel movement since Wednesday and I am very uncomfortable. I was taking Percocet but I haven t needed any since last night. I absolutely can not go to the bathroom. I ve tried magnesium citrate and so far nothing. I am in a lot of pain and I feel very nauseous.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Constipation after surgeries can be common. I suggest you to take laxatives like lactulose. 15 ml of the drug can be taken every night. The drug can take 2 to 3 days to act. Increase fibre content in your diet and drink plenty of fluids. When these measures fail, you may need to visit a hospital to get an enema done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
