What Causes Constipation, Back Pain And Abdominal Bloating?

I am a 38 year old female, mother of 2 who exercises about 4 days a week. I eat semi healthy. My digestive system has always been pretty regular but about a month ago, I had a serious issue of constipation for a week. Since then I have had it on and off. The last few days I have had stomach bloating and pain, tender to the touch and gassy. I also have back pain. It s close to my menstrual cycle but never experienced this much pain and bloating since I was pregnant. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to do? I ate salad, oatmeal and fruit today, also water and green tea.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Development of constipation that is recurrent and accompanied by bloating, gases and back pain indicate that you have some problem with the intestine like obstruction.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
First of all, do not change the diet as it will be difficult to find out the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems and may further complicate the matter.
Get a X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to see for any obstruction or so, fecolith.
If fecoliths are present you may need saline and soap enema for complete evaluation.
Also get the tests of blood, stool and urine as it may find some information adding to the proper diagnosis in some cases.
Take stool softeners.
If the obstruction is suspected, you will need a contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen and go for corrective measures as per the reports thus found.
Once the cause is removed, most of the other symptoms will get corrected automatically.
