What Causes Continuous Burping And Sharp Pain In Chest After Eating Hazelnuts?

My wife has eaten a few hazelnuts and then, five minutes later complained of feeling light-headed. She then began to burp consistantly. As the burping started - the light-headedness went off. She felt a sharp pain in the chest which she says seemed to disperse into her breasts before going off completely, but no pain down her left arm down her left arm. She kept her colour and maintained normal temperature. Now, 10 to 15 minuters later she feels much better but is burping consistently, once every 5 or 6 seconds! Does this sound like a nut allergy (which she has never had before) or does it sound like something else? if so, what? With Many Thanks. Steve.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The given symptoms could be due to allergic condition. This can be due to the food she has taken or it can be dyspepsia. In either of this condition, it is nothing to worry because it can be self limiting condition. In this case, just care need to be taken for diet. She has to take very light diet, but in my opinion, liquid diet would be best for her, at the most fruit salt can be used just to minimize the acidity. If the symptoms persists, then it can be tried with Tab Omeprazole 20 mg with Domperidone 10 mg once in day for a week.
