What Causes Continuous Runny Nose, Cough And Low Grade Fever In Children?

Good evening, Doctor. My son s pediatrician suspects that he is suffering an allergic reaction to amoxicillan. I am worried about the threat of measles. She put him on antibiotics last week because of an upper respiratory infection which included a runny nose, cough, and low grade fever which lasted no more than one day. Can you give me any insights? Thank you for your time and attention! Sincerely, Rachel

Hello,

The symptoms of running nose, cough and low grade fever are all suggestive of upper respiratory infection. Your pediatrician has rightly put your son on antibiotics. Some individuals can have an allergic reaction against amoxycillin. If case such allergic reaction is suspected, an alternate antibiotic should be started. I suggest you to consult your pediatrician for this. Measles is characterized by rash on the face and body.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
