Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took Zicam spray and then rapidmelts for a cold last October. It was totally effective in preventing the congestion, cough, etc. No one would have known I had a cold. BUT, I had NO energy, was barely able to walk around and I have not been myself ever since. A couple weeks ago I had a minor heart attack, determined by my blood enzymes, which peaked at 10. The angiogram showed almost no blockage even thought I'm 75 years old. The cardiologist says i have an exceptionally strong heartbeat. My EKG's are perfect. So, do you think it could be a result of the Zycam? I tend to be very sensitive to medications. I once had heart papitations and arythmia from a singe Actifed capsul. And my blood pressure flatlined from nitroglycerin.
Thanks for your question on HCM & I do understand your concern
If I were your treating doctor I would come up with these possibilities for your problem :-
1)It may be due to post viral infection which happens after common cold and diagnosis is physical examination and treatment is symptomatically.
2)Do check for low hemoglobin if low then you can take iron and check vitamin B deficit and if present you can take vitamin B capsules prescribed by your doctor.
The Zicam is not responsible for your problem and regarding your heart I may say that it is good that you have no artery blockage. So nothing to be worried about heart.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Thanks and wish you a good health
