What Causes Coughing After Tonsillectomy Procedure?
Hi I just had a tonsillectomy 4 days ago I keep coughing i try to hold it in because i do not want to cause bleeding and when i breath out my mouth i can hear its clogged in a way. I notice its worse when i lay on my back that i cant breath and need to cough because of the mucus or i dont know what else it could be from, maybe a blood clot?
I have gone through your query and can understand..
As per your complain coughing in your case seems to be irritation and inflammation in throat secondary to surgery and irritation is lading to tickle in the throat and can lead to coughing.. Nothing to worry about it as it will resolve once your healing will become progressive.. Excessive mucous formation is also due to irritation leading to excessive mucous formation.. You can do warm saline gargles and do steam inhalations and also you can get mucous removed with a suction machine if it cause excessive discomfort.. You should continue taking medicines as advised by the doctor to prevent infection and relieve pain..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
