What Causes Coughing Up Of Blood And Sticky Phlegm?

I m an almost 74 year old woman, who has had very good health for all my life. However, for the last few months, I haven t had as much energy as usual, and I have felt like I didn t really have a cold, but my head felt kind of heavy, and when I coughed, I would cough up very sticky phylum. Now, when I cough, the phylum has little spots of what looks like maybe dried spots of blood - it s not bright red, but more of a brownish red. The spots don t dissolve.

Some of the common causes of chronic cough and blood in the sputum are serious causes who need blood labs and radiology labs to rule out.
I will mention lung cancer- your age and general tiredness may be symptoms to suspect it. More possible to be if you have family history, if you are smoking or have been smoking in the past.
Also depending on the area where you live, Tuberculosis may be a cause, who needs confirmation and treatment as soon as possible.
Other causes, less possible may be as well, but for a chronic cough with blood in the sputum the imaging and tests will say the final word.
