I've had bronchitis for about 2 months now. I have had a course of Antibiotics but still have the same cough/weezing chest. I also smoke a fair amount of marijuana through a bong. Lately I have been coughing up almost black chucky mucus and ALOT of it mainly at night when im trying to sleep. Has this progressed into something more severe?
Cannot say in your particular case, but there are a few (all serious) possibilities.
Blood can break down to being black. Irritation (pneumonia) or bleeding from the lung could do this (although maroon, even red, is more common).
A very bad fungal infection (predisposed to occur by antibiotics killing off the normal bacteria) can be black
a LOT of very bad dust (coal miner lung) can also give black....but it is chronic and not all of a sudden
all of these serious conditions would require major intervention by physicians and can be fatal.
